Gardening and yard work brings bright blooms and foliage around your home, but it can also leave you with aches and muscle pain. Self-care in the form of stretches after a day in the yard can alleviate your pain. Sometimes, the muscle pain does not resolve on its own. If you are dealing with the aches and pains that come with gardening and live in Dodge City, Greensburg, or the surrounding communities, contact our team at Grove Chiropractic to schedule an appointment with Dr. Grove. We have gathered a few tips you can use to find pain relief.

1. Touch Your Toes

Bend over at your waist and reach for your toes. Don't strain yourself, however. Let your body gently drape downwards and allow your fingertips to get as close to your toes as possible.

2. Stretch Your Quadriceps

Do this where you can catch your foot against a table or shelf. Bring your foot up behind you and bend your knee to rest your foot on the shelf or ledge behind you. Hold the stretch for a few seconds before releasing.

3. Wrist Flexor and Extensor

Hold your arm out in front of you and turn your hand up for this stretch and fingertips down for the extensor stretch. Take your other hand and grasp your fingers, then gently draw the hand back in either position.

4. Thoracic Rotation

Sit in a chair placed next to a wall. Cross your arms so your hands are touching your shoulders. Turn your upper body to face the wall. As you get used to this stretch, place a hand on the back of the chair and relax your other arm.

5. Pectorals

Stand in a doorway and raise your forearms upwards with your palms and fingers flat against the sides of the doorway. Your arms should be at a 90-degree angle to your body.
